Case Studies and Proof of Impact
Every framework we teach, we test in the field. Below are concise, two-paragraph snapshots of live projects that demonstrate INNOVATE in action — with links to Programs, Products, and external properties for deeper dives.
This page lives under Case for Support to show funders and partners what’s real, what shipped, and what we learned.
MidLife College — AI Literacy & Workforce Transition

MidLife College reimagines higher education for adults adapting to an AI-driven workforce. It provides accessible, bias-aware learning modules and certification pathways for professionals seeking to reskill responsibly. By pairing critical thinking with AI readiness, the project demonstrates how inclusive design helps mid-career learners pivot toward the future of work with confidence.
As a Responsible Innovation Lab product line, MidLife College functions as both a public service and a living lab for curriculum, chatbot personas, and skills-based assessment aligned to employer needs. Content is updated as the landscape shifts, and learners are guided by principled assistants like Mave to make ethical, practical choices about tools, data, and workflows.
Give Me Back My Bias — Persona-Driven Chatbots
Give Me Back My Bias transforms bias detection into personal reflection. Rather than hiding AI bias, it surfaces and contextualizes it through carefully designed personas that challenge users to examine assumptions and make better choices. The result is safer, more human chatbots that can teach, coach, and serve — without pretending to be neutral.
Built with students from the Responsible Innovation Lab, GMBMB balances voice, safeguards, and rapid delivery. Typical builds move from prototype in days to final delivery in 1–2 weeks, reinforced by evaluation prompts, refusal patterns, and hand-offs that respect user dignity.
NOVA — Ethical Innovation Certification

NOVA evaluates ethical and sustainable innovation with a structured, evidence-based ladder (Bronze → Platinum). It measures reflexivity, transparency, and social value, aligning to the Lab’s INTEGRITY values. Teams document decisions, safeguards, and impact — turning “responsible” from a buzzword into auditable practice.
NOVA underpins rapid pilots in the inNOVAte Collective and supports classrooms, nonprofits, and civic teams with common rubrics and artifacts (briefs, prompts, evaluation plans, and demos). It’s accountability you can actually ship.
Mave — Principled AI Mentor

Mave is the Lab’s principled AI mentor. She helps leaders, students, and teams navigate complex choices in responsible innovation, ethical leadership, and partnership design. Grounded in the INNOVATE framework, Mave turns values into action — eliciting context, surfacing trade-offs, and scaffolding lightweight evaluation so teams move from discovery to responsible deployment.
In practice, Mave anchors curricula, NOVA certification guidance, and day-to-day decision support across Lab programs. She’s the connective tissue that keeps speed and safety in balance.
HouseKey — Dignity-First Resource Guide

HouseKey is a steady guide to local assistance for housing, food, healthcare, and vital services — built phones-first with plain language and consent at each step. It reduces the shame and maze-like directories that too often block people from the help they need.
Technically and ethically, HouseKey pairs privacy-aware defaults with refusal patterns, audit logs, and clear hand-offs to people and agencies. It’s a model for deploying responsible AI where harm-reduction, clarity, and speed matter most.
