Historical Student Work

Student Projects and Lineage (Arizona State University 2019–2025)

From 2019–2025, the Responsible Innovation Guild (2019) did a few workshops and helped write the 1.0 Responsible Innovation Guild charter for ASU’s Technology Office. Chris spent a few years after that working to develop a process to translate ideation into implementation quicker and more efficiently than what was happening in development at the time while remaining ethically aligned with future thinking and inclusivity.

This evolved into the Responsible Innovation Lab (Jan 2022), concluding our Arizona State University (ASU) partnership in May 2025. Student-led capstones and collaborations piloted methods, tested safeguards, and seeded the active programs we run today. Our time with the SFIS Innovation Studio program was instrumental in solidifying our direction. This page provides high-level lineage and links to a few archived highlights.

Beyond the Highlights, more Capstone Projects

The items above are not a complete list of our work from 2019–2025. Additional student-led explorations that shaped our trajectory included:
  • Evaluating the value of micro-credentials for student skill recognition.
  • Assessing the efficacy of Dreamscape as a VR environment for immersive education.
  • Concepting Starship autonomous food delivery in partnership with Pitchfork Pantry.

These projects do not yet have dedicated archive pages, but they remain an important part of the Lab’s history — underscoring the breadth of student innovation and the foundation it provided for our current programs.
