How It WorksNOVA innovation certificate ladder

  1. Choose Your Category
    Select whether you’re applying as an Individual, Small Business, Non-Profit, or Corporation.
  2. Select a Target Tier (Optional)
    🥈 Silver, 🥇 Gold, or 💎 Platinum—or let NOVA assess where you fit best.
  3. Review the 7 Evaluation Themes
    NOVA will explain the themes and help you gather relevant evidence.
  4. Submit Required Materials
    Upload your documentation using the provided templates.
  5. Assessment & Review
    Your application is reviewed by one or more certified assessors (Tiers 3 & 4 require consensus and stakeholder validation).
  6. Receive Certification + Feedback
    Get your official certification level and personalized feedback to guide your next steps.

What You’ll Need to Submit

NOVA will provide templates and walk you through each of these components:

  • Evidence Portfolio – Proof aligned to the 7 Evaluation Themes
  • Metrics Reporting Framework – Quantified indicators of performance
  • Reflexivity Log – Reflection on assumptions, biases, and future risks (required for Tiers 3 & 4)
  • Stakeholder Validation – Feedback from people impacted by your work (required for Tiers 3 & 4)

The 7 Core Evaluation Themes

Every applicant is assessed across these universal criteria, scaled to your size and sector:

  1. Purpose Alignment – Does your work reflect ethical, inclusive, and future-oriented goals?
  2. Ethical Responsibility & Accountability – How do you prevent harm and ensure accountability?
  3. Sustainability & Long-Term Impact – Is your innovation built to last, environmentally and socially?
  4. Inclusivity & Stakeholder Engagement – Are you engaging marginalized communities and co-designing solutions?
  5. Reflexivity & Anticipatory Governance – Do you reflect on risks and adapt for the future?
  6. Transparency – Are your processes open, honest, and visible?
  7. Tangible Impact & Measurement – Can you prove your idea’s real-world value?
